What a classic shot this one is! A clean, pinstriped GG-1, with front coupler "dropped," and the locomotive number in the keystone. Can't blame you, John, for standing back a bit on this one, those G's on expresses, used to fly into the reverse curves here, at about fifty miles per hour, or so it seemed. Thanks for great image.

A classic scene, John. I don't think I've ever noticed that GG1's could have their coupler's "down". Wild!

Always love the GG1's. And count me among others not knowing that the couplers could also be "streamlined."

Superb photograph. I also did not know about the coupler down feature. We have a semi-preserved static GG-1 here at the Syracuse State Fairgrounds, and you can be sure my head is going to look for that feature under the front cowl next time I see her. Fantastic picture. The GG-1 is an American legend.
