These are not C-Liners, which were Fairbanks-Morse diesel cab units, but rather they are experimental, rectifier (a.c-d.c) electric locomotives built by Westinghouse. Pennsy had these two cabs, which featured a very rare B-B-B wheel arrangement, and two, vitually identical units that rode on C-C running gear. In addition, there were two sets of GE, straight a.c., experimental cab units that rode on B-B trucks. The carbody on those had a nose that looked much like that of the New Haven's 370-class EP-5 passenger electrics, which came later. One set of the GE's was originally fielded as a demonstrator, and did one such stint on the Great Northern's Cascade electrification.
