This is a great example of photojournalism, both the shot and the caption. If I had to guess, I'd say you're a newspaper photog. If you're not, you certainly fooled me! Again, great work! -- Joe H.

Now that's what you call a railroad action shot! Great job.

Thank you guys!!! No I do not work for the news or newspaper. Maybe one day, but not now. I'm just a normal railroad photographer like the rest of us. I'm glad every one enjoys my photo. Thanks again!!!

Great composition, Eddie. Was the train still moving, or did it come to a stop to take advantage of the photo op?

Jim, The train was at restricted speed, I would guess he was going between 8-12MPH.

Great Job! As said, perfect composition; with a single image you’ve captured the entire story. This picture is truly worth a thousand words.

I've been wandering around RailPics for several years now....imagine my surprise when I found a picture of myself!! That's me in the smokey hat, talking to Garth Bodrero of the UPRR (track maintainer on the right). I remember that crash quite well, and we have them end up on the tracks every so often in the narrow confines of Sp. Fork Canyon. I found this picture a while back and postcarded it to my brother, an avid railfan (and fellow employee of Utah DPS) that first showed me this site. But I've only recently created a profile, and was heretofore unable to comment on this one. Send me your contact info so I can bill you for royalties!! ;-) Nice shot, and good followup on the train crew and incident....
