Love this higher perspective as it shows that these sand cars were loaded and that this trip was a multi-purpose trip. Billed as the Inaugural Run of "Old Smokey" #2008, this trip was also the RJ CORMAN Railroad Company, Operation Life Saver promotion for this year, and Promotional Materials were handed out at every stop. Those loaded sand gondolas were brand new and were earning revenue. The ex Southern Railway caboose was specially restored and lettered for this trip. From a railfan point of view, some Museums and Fan trip operators will run photographers "photo freight" specials on a for hire basis, but Mr. Corman provided an "all new, modern steam powered freight train" free of charge.
