Another excellent photograph, Chris. And thanks for the info about the welded rail. I would have thought that continuously welded rails would not have been so rare up here.

I think what Chris meant is that CWR is a rarity on the ARR south of Anchorage. The mainline from Anchorage to Fairbanks is in the midst of a decade lonk capital rebuild that is seeing 136 lb CWR laid for the entire length along with concrete ties on all curves greater than six degrees. In fact the mainline is already more than half welded rail already.

I hope that tank car behind the power isn't hazardous! Could be purged, but usually the brown-white color scheme is for some pretty nasty stuff loaded OR empty.
