Great shot! It's a nice walk down memory lane from the 70's when Glendale was a place to watch the Espee in action. Older first generation EMD and newer second-generation EMD/GE power, in the famous Bloody Nose scheme, powering freight trains. Long before the public storage facility was built just across the tracks, long before endlessly bland and boring Amtrak/Metrolink trains, long before boring Yellow was everywhere. Back then, watching the Espee at Glendale was a treat that can never be forgotten.

I too want to echo Red Granite's sentiments. My interest in railfanning and trains started when I would join the local cadre of railfans down at the Glendale Depot most nights.

A very striking photo! Brings back memories of riding the SP into LA Union Station in the 1960s. Great shot!
