Firstly - I'm a great fan of EMD's E & F-units, consequently, I'm a big Marty Bernard fan! Secondly, I'm a Brit who is 35, and would like to know what the difference between an E and an F unit is. I notice E units are co-co's and F's are bo-bo's. Anything else I should know?

Mr. Smith, the E7 is a 2000 h.p. passenger locomotive, introduced in 1947, powered by two 12-cylinder 567-series engines. The F3 and F7 are both 1500 h.p. freight and/or passenger locomotives of 1945 and 1949 respectively, with one 16-cylinder 567-series engine. The F7 is an electrically upgraded version of the F3. All E-units have A1A-A1A trucks, which equals three axles, and two motors per truck, while the F-unit has B-B (or Bo-Bo) trucks.
