Wow. Great shot from Springfield! I wonder if the station is Springfield Union Station or the GM&O station? I have not seen a shot like this one from Springfield.

This is the IC Union Station in Springfield, a few blocks east of the present-day Amtrak depot, which utilizes the ex-GM&O station. IC station was left abandoned after passenger service ended in 1971, years later it was renovated and is today the Lincoln Center with the clock tower rebuilt (it had been dismantled by the IC after WWII) http://www.alplm.org/union_station/union_station.html

Coincidentally, there was an article in the latest TRAINS mag about President Lincoln, Springfield, and the IC station/museum. Wonderful photo for this Mattoon native and IC fan. Thank you for posting.

The tracks are no longer there. But the renovation of this great station included rebuilding the clock tower that was removed many decades ago. This shot is being added to my favorites.
