I have viewed all class 20 photos on RailPictures.Net. These engines are rather different from most in that they have only one drivers cab. There also seems to be a great number of different arrangements of marker lights and the color and position of the hinged marker covers. Some of these have number boards and much more modern lights. I can't determine which end of these is the front, as even in freshly painted units the front is not designated. On British dual cab engines a front designation would not make a difference. I can only wonder if these were shunters or more like what Americans call road switchers. While the Class 20 in Nathan's photo is most likely newly restored, were these used on passenger locals ? I have great respect for British restoration projects and complement all involved in this work. A clean engine and beautiful scenery makes a perfect picture ! Thanks for the posting Nathan.
