Although the first car on this train is obviously an ex-Norfolk & Western Powhatan Arrow car, the odd roof ventilator on the second car marks it as an ex-Boston & Maine coach, acquired by Wabash after the B&M went with an all RDC-fleet. The cars were inherited by the N&W in the merger, and the N&W removed their original stainless steel corrugations, because of corrosion beneath, and rebuilt them as smooth-sided cars. I saw one in Dearborn in the mid-sixties, in fresh N&W blue, but the smooth stainless-steel roof remained unpainted at that time.
