Phil - Thanks for sharing this unique photograph. I've been to a historical site in Pennsylvania where they used to move canal boats this way back in the early 1800's. It's fascinating that this method is still in use today in Poland.

The canal/railroad system you're refering to in Pennsylvania is the old Portage Railroad/Canal on the "Main Line of Public Works".
