That must be some sort if conversion car between the knuckle coupler equipped locomotive and the Mu type suburban set. I would like to see a side shot of the conversion car.

The suburban set actually has knuckle couplers and standard air hoses at the each end. This is a side shot of the same locomotive and wagon:
