With a train number like #79, it is the hottest train on the railroad. Hotter than the Rio Grande Zephyr, hotter even than the Railblazer. This is the Ford Auto Service Train, or Ford FAST... This was prime example of D&RGW's "Short Fast Trains" concept in action. #79 was amply powered, short and light, and received an expeditied schedule to SLC. You didn't dare make this one late. It had a 16-hour schedule from Pueblo-SLC, but 13 hour runs were not uncommon.
