The Stampede Sub will not be "closed" per se; it's merely not being used as a through route while excess capacity exists elsewhere (the railroad can save money by eliminating two lightly-used crew districts and reallocating MOW resources). BNSF has invested too much capital in the line over the last decade-plus, including substantial repair work in the wake of this past winter's major storm event, to abandon the route again. Trains will return once traffic picks up.
