I can't believe railfans in the USA are letting these rent-a-cop tell them what they can or can't do. Great pic otherwise.

Andre, normally I wouldn't of been as nice, but unfortunately, it appeared as so we're parked on their property.

I hope you suggested that if they didn't want you to take photos, they should have put up a tall fence. Because that's the only way they can prevent you from taking pictures of their building from public property. Don't let rent-a-cops scare you - call the real cops if you're having problems and you know you're in the right.

Yeah, isn't it a fact that we get harassed by security personnell everywhere, now. I almost got arrested once in Nashville, told not to take pictures and even got my passport checked in Atlanta. I love to see pictures of odd equipment and hope you keep doing what you are doing. Nice shot. Greetings from overseas. Werner

We have the same problem in the UK with minions who think that they can order you around. Great shot

Looks like the photographer is on the shoulder of a public road. I don't think a real law enforcement officer could do much about that unless one was parked illegally or dangerously.

The parking issue aside, if you're shooting from public property, they cannot tell you not to shoot their facility or their train. I would consider sending a copy of this picture to someone at the plant, possibly the media relations person if they have one, if not the plant manager, and nicely explain the circumstances. There could be an issue here in that it appears the security guard is off of his area, too.

The best thing to do is to stand firm and always have a copy of the Photographer's rights handy. They CANNOT tell you to quit taking photos if you are on public property.

Yeah he looks real dangerous too! Very neat pic Chase.

Well, you know us rail fans. We wake up in the morning put our turban on with our railroad pins in them and head off good day of “terrorism.”

If a cop, public or private bothers you, and you have the time, a good lawyer and the money to do it go after them in the courts! We are mostly too well off to be able to afford to get a mouthpiece to go after these jerks! That is why I gave up photography. Too many cops, real and imagined think we are engaged in an illegal act. But, sadly I do not have the money to go after the jerks that attack innocent people with the police, local or private. 9.11.01 did not kill the US Constitution, although the ranks of intolerant idiots are growing thanks to the national paranoia running riot across this once great and free nation. It will not get any easier, gang, we are perilously close to living in a Soviet Republic now.

I'm getting hassled photographing trucks now too. I'm 6'1, 300 pounds, and was wearing a pink tee shirt standing on a public sidewalk at 10am. "What are you doing snooping around my trucks?" This is a great photo, I'm glad you caught it, and RP accepted it.

Is there any L&N heritage to this caboose. It looks South Louisville Shop type. Thanks, Great Photo. To bad Barney tried to ruin your day.

Very good picture . I don't see anything wrong that made that security officer get mad about.

AH! The wonderful encounters with law enforcement overstepping their boundaries....that is exactly how my Frmr BN Police friend puts it.

Nice photo. It shows the scenario that a foamer may be faced with while 'chasing'. He's probably upset because he had to get out of his truck.

I would go further up the tracks where the bozo cant harass you and take pictures.

Chase, I know this comment comes a few years late, but here's my comment anyway. And this is for everyone else who reads this comment! I used to work as a security officer ("rent-a-cop" as some of you called my former profession) for a business in Columbus, Ohio that is the library of chemical information to the entire world. (That's not a lie!) Anyway, this "chubby" guy had NO authority to tell you to leave, move, stop, go away, or even kiss his butt! He stated you were parked on property owned by the chemical plant? Let me inform you as a former security officer he didn't have any authority to even say that! Why? Because you were parked on the BERM of a STATE HIGHWAY! The berm of a State Highway extends 15 feet off the edge of pavement. So no matter what he said to you, you were on STATE property, (i.e. - PUBLIC), NOT private property of the chemical plant, and HE was in the wrong. What you should do is go to this location again, park on the berm and photograph all you want, if anyone from the chemical plant security shows up again, call the REAL police and file harassment charges on the chemical plant "chubby patrol"! Like I said, I used to be employed as one of those guys but I at least new what I was doing, I know the law and what I could and could not do, and I knew how to work the job PROPERLY! If I were his supervisor, HE would have gotten an a** chewing for being so stupid!
