They were part of the railroad museum started by the Bovey family in the early 1960s at Nevada City. Most are Soo Line or WC heritage. At one time the museum also had a 2-truck Shay and several Soo Line heavyweights, which are now owned by Mr. John Larkin and stored in Michigan. They were traded for the 2-8-0 which is now used on the Alder Gulch Short Line steam trips that run from Nevada City to Virginia City.

Thank you for the information and after visiting Virginia City and Nevada City all I can say is that we have a lot to thank the Bovey family for. What a fascinating couple of towns for the visitor. Coming from England it was great to see all those Wild West buildings preserved for all to see. What foresight Mr. Bovey had back in the 1950s when he began to preserve everything. The great pity for me was that the train had stopped running for the season the day before.
