I think we railfanners who grew up in the 60's in flat SE Michigan saw more of these early Geep's w/o dynamic brakes than the guys in the steep Eastern coal districts. I remember this breed well, and I also recall the first chopped nose-C&O EMD's that showed up in shiney paint. C&O wasn't much for ALCo or GE diesels, I never saw anything but EMD's on the Michigan C&O.
