Interesting caption, Kevin. Having a "fan club" in on of the cars does make for a more interesting chase. I recall one particularly lively bunch while chasing Great Smokey Mtn's 1702 several years ago that make the day a ton of fun.

Back in 2005, I was chasing a northbound just south of Rockwood where the highway crosses over the tracks. I had walked south of the overpass to where the tracks are closest to the road. After shooting the train there, I sprinted up the road to try and shoot the train coming through the S curve. Due to the grade, the train slows to a crawl, and I actually came close to outrunning it and beating it the 700ft to the overpass. I didn't get the 2nd shot, but the passengers in the open-air car gave me a round of applause for my valiant effort. I then drove to Rockwood where one of the passengers recognized me and was amazed at my feat. Great shot and thanks for the memories!
