What a gem! Glad at least one is still out there!

For at least a decade from the early eighties until the early nineties one of these old Espee tankcars was parked next to the abandoned San Diego and Arizona mainline just east of Coyote Wells, CA. Everytime we'd drive by on Interstate 8 I would always stare at it and wonder why it was there, how long it had been there, and if the Espee even knew that it was out there. I always wondered about the "S" on the dome and what it stood for. Well, it's gone now and has been for at least five or ten years. And, I still don't know what the "S" stands for.
