What a great story to compliment your photograph, Jim. Seems to me that every picture tells its own story but then there's the story behind it. Thanks for sharing. Makes me remember back when I was invited to tour the Cheyenne roundhouse back in the early eighties. Best Regards

Jim - A classic photo and a great story to go along with it. Can you imagine being asked by an engineer in this day & age to ride to the summit of some location on any railroad other than perhaps a tourist line. Highly unlikely !!! Thanks for sharing.

Today, someone who operated F units has had a long career. Very nice photo and caption, again, Jim.

Thanks to everyone for all your wonderful comments... it is really appreciated and means a lot to me!! Now that this photo has been accepted to the database, I will consider scanning and posting a few shots from the cab of BN 810. I have received a few emails from viewers who have gently pointed out that these two "wagons" ARE F9s and NOT F7s. Gee, are they ever correct and am I ever embarrassed! I've always thought these were F9s, but just to be sure, I consulted my 1975-76 Burlington Northern Annual. Just as I thought, I verified they ARE F9s but... and this is the scary part... I went ahead and selected F7(A) when submitting the photo. To make matters worse, I then went on to make the SAME mistake in my remarks! All I can say is "Ooops" and "so sorry" for this oversight. I have already submitted a correction form and I'd like to thank those who took the time to courteously point out the errors of my way.
