Yes Mark, these are quite unique... a Canadian original, only made for CN and NAR. Basically, they are an SW1200 on a lengthened frame with a short nose. These things originally had 6-axle A-1-A trucks, but these were replaced by trucks from retired GP9s when CN rebuilt them. There's only about 25 in service, but where I live they use them quite frequently. Their unique look kinda is like a more angular RS-3.

While I realize she was originally a denizen of the northern Alberta branchlines, we still have a fondness for her (and sisters 1422 and 1431) here in Oakville where at least one would pop up every spring, much to the chagrin of the local crews as they weren't really looked upon with much favor. Hopefully we will see one arrive here again soon, although I'm not holding my breath.
