The train was turned earlier in the afternoon at the wye atop Miramar Hill. Here is a shot from September '08 of it there: Miramar.

Actually, the high rises seem out of place. The train was there first.

What Charles is referring to is the backstory that I got so involved in shooting the 3751 that I lost track of time and that Pacific Surfliner off to the left departed without me ... and it was the last northbound train of the evening. So, it was either spend the night in San Diego, or catch the last northbound Amtrak California bus, although the bus wouldn't be stopping in Anaheim, where I was parked. D'oh!
