Those ties seem remarkably well preserved for seemingly having been sitting there for over 2 decades.

Great shot! I worked local shifters in the early 70's from the West Falls yard. We used this tunnel to get to the Philadelphia Inquirer building and a few other customers on the Reading and later Conrail. Sadly, all are gone or moved to other locations.
