This old RR sign is one I could have helped put up when I was working for the Northern Pacific in the early 60's...it looks like it could be that old. This valley, the Bitterroot Valley was traversed by Lewis and Clark, very close to this location. This valley, 110 miles long is a very beautiful valley. The mountains you see are the border to Idaho and is a large wilderness area. I hunted most of these canyons and mountains. My father, hunted cougars and became an expert on mountain lions and bear. This valley is south of Missoula, if you ever travel here, take a ride down Hwy 93...you will never be sorry.
