When did they start painting this engine? Great paint scheme. I love the Lackawanna's colors.

I only saw one ex-DL&W F7 in this scheme, which made little sense on an ostensibly freight locomotive, but it looked terrific. The DL&W had largely repainted the majority of their F7s into the passenger scheme before the merger with Erie. The older FTs and F3s for the most part kept their original paint. The F7 I saw had not been renumbered in 1962!

As an FYI, this was a former Bangor & Aroostock RR engine which until only a few days ago had been painted as CNJ #56. CNJ #57 at the time of this image is in the roundhouse getting prepped for paint to become DLW #663 to match.

I'm excited to see these units finished and pulling trains around Scranton. I'm already planning my next visit to Steamtown, I just have to get out of Iraq first. Wish me luck..
