Oh yeah, that's a pretty steamer. Climb Blue Ridge, run like the wind, highly efficient with roller bearings and "modern" steam engineering design, what more could a railroad ask. (except to have less labor intensive power) Nice whistle she has/had too back in her excursion days.

Great shot of a beautiful subject. I got to see her up close and personal in Lexington, KY back when she was still pulling excursions on NS. When it comes to beauty and grace, in my book NYC Hudsons, B & O's Cincinnatian and Southern's Cresent Pacifics OR PRR's Duplex streamliners can hold a candle to this, Norfolk and Western's finest creation.
