You know this E9 has Head End Power, because its pulling the Budd gallery/cab car, but of all the E units that had HEP engines installed, Milwaukee 37A is one of but six examples that came directly from Electro-Motive with that feature. That group, 36A,C through 38A,C was built in 1961 and only the single louver behind the last porthole, identifies them when viewed from ground level. On the rear roof though, are the necessary extra cooling and exhaust equipment for the HEP engine.

The locomotive exists at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, IL and several of the Bi-levels are still at work on Metra but some have had their cabs blanked off during their rebuilding. It's cool to see a scene of these in their former glory.
