This is an E8, an ex-Pennsylvania Railroad with the lifting lugs on either side of the nose door and the m.u. plug under the headlight being the identifying features. The Pennsy had no E9s, a model which would have a rubber-mounted headlight glass, instead of the steel trim piece shown here.
