Thanks for the memories Sid! Actually, sanity wasn't fully restored until the end of the 1994 season following the Milwaukee Road 261 trips on the New River Gorge.

Gosh, that's been a long time ago! This was part of a five-day marathon trip for KRM that started at Louisville, headed over through Lexington to Winchester, and then down to Corbin on Thursday. The following day, the engine (plus ex-Monon BL2 No. 32) and train rolled 68 miles to Loyall. This Saturday r/t was the real jewel, and this is the northbound return to Harlan and Loyall. On Sunday the train ran from Loyall to Corbin, and then down to Holton, TN and back. The last day, on Monday, they returned to Louisville via the Lebanon Branch. Some of this trackage is no longer in operation, including the Lebanon Branch, and this segment from Big Stone Gap to Appalachia. Within a year or two, this is slated to be a hiking and biking trail. And of course, all this came off without a single problem or mechanical breakdown.
