With a "high" green in the distance and flying a white "extra" flag! Awesome photo, Tom

I rode the passenger train from Greensboro via Winston-Salem to Hickory in 1968. Finding out that service would soon end, I took the next-to-last train from Hickory to Asheville that summer, recreating for myself a treat my mother had given me in 1953, when at age 5, I had performed a modest role - that of train bearer! - in an acceptable fashion. The Loops were still as spell-binding as I had remembered. In any case, the trip from Greensboro passed through Barber Jct., which I remember well.
