Steve Schmollinger used to be a west coast guy. He's generated a lot of great photos in the west, in such places as the Tehachapi Mountains (look out for those deadly rattlers he mentioned), Donner Pass, and the Feather River Canyon. He's also photographed the Milwaukee Road. He's authored a number of awesome books (two of which are in my library) and magazine articles pertaining to western railroading (a number of which are in my collection), providing both text and many of the photos. He once lived in Antioch, CA, my current home, and commuted on BART, which I did for a number of years. Now he has apparently moved east. Having been born and raised in Oakland, California, having worked for the SP in Stockton, Oakland, and San Francisco, having worked for the SF District Attorney's Office in SF, and having lived in Antioch for the last 11 years (and Fremont, Castro Valley, Stockton, San Jose and Oakland before that), I must admit that my heart is still in the west. The aforementioned statement not withstanding, I find Schmollinger's fine photography in the east to be of interest as well! Thanks to Mr. Schmollinger for sharing!

Absolutely the brightest most saturated paint job CSX has ever gone to. Nice.
