You'd think that ten years into the 21st century there would be a way to have the train trigger the traffic lights to signal stop when it crossed the road.

There is a way for the train to trigger the traffic lights. The conductor has to walk across and push the crosswalk button. But they did not get across before the light changed to green but the engineer sure did tried.

Actually, the traffic lights should have been tied into the circuits that activate the crossing signals.

Ah, thanks Travis. Understand: we have precisely two traffic lights in our little downtown and crosswalk barely allows time for me to cross.

"Actually, the traffic lights should have been tied into the circuits that activate the crossing signals." To which I respond: What crossing signals? I don't see any. Kinda hard to tie into something that isn't there.
