The coach coupled to P&LE 1501, is a former Louisville & Nashville, "Humming Bird/Georgian," ACF-built, aluminum car, built for through New Orleans/Atlanta-Chicago/St. Louis services in concert with the Chicago & Eastern Illinois (both trains,) and the Nashville Chattanooga & St. Louis (the Georgian.) Penn Central acquired a number of the cars and assigned some to P&LE, to replace heavyweights. Others were allocated to New York's MTA for ex-New York Central Hudson/Harlem services and some went to NJ DOT, assigned to the ex-Pennsylvania New York & Long Branch, all commuter operations. The P&LE cars were painted Penn Central's pea soup green, the MTA's were platinum mist, with a blue window band and the Jersey cars were overall silver.

Love to see pictures of the PLE 1501. That coach needs a bath!
