Thanks for taking the time to hike in to take this view. Most of us only stop on the highway, and walk in from the right side of the picture. I am sure most people don't know why this is called Java, when it crosses the Middle Fork of The Flathead River. Because the railroad also crosses Java Creek. That is the creek, in the center of the photo, flowing into the Middle Fork. The two water courses are separated by the narrow finger of ground that supports the bridge abutment. The stack cars are over Java Creek, the locomotives are crossing the Middle Fork. Very few places where a bridge crosses to separate water courses at one time. Don't believe me? Find a forest service map, or ride over Java Creek on Amtrak.

Great shot Dave, the hike was worth it.This has grown in alot since this photo was taken.
