That is unbeleavable...brand new Chevy Corvettes on top of the old open auto-rack, I wonder how many of them still had a good windshield by the time they reached there desination. A truly great shot from the 70s.

This is a fabulously cool shot....and a spot on exposure. Thanks for digging it out and sharing.

I think the whole auto-rack id full of Vettes. The only reason that car is not next the caboose is to keep the conductor from hopping over and spending the whole day sitting in a brand new Vette.

If you like Corvettes then please visit The National Corvette Museum that is located in Bowling Green, Kentucky. This museum is located at I-65, exit 28, and has 110000 Sq. Ft. of display area and more than Seventy Corvettes, and is just across the road from the Corvette Plant. Adults 10.00 Seniors 8.00 Youth 5.00 Under 6 free also Group Rates for 15 or more. There are plant tours available. Something unique about the Corvette Plant, is that employees who drive a Corvette to work are allowed to park in the front lot when driving their Corvette ! Please remember that when purchasing a Corvette, you have the option to watch your new ride assembled and then drive it home. Talk to your Chevy Dealer for details. I know of no other auto manufacturer in the United states that does this. There are many "Special one of" Corvettes in the museum. When in Bowling Green plan enough time to also visit the former Louisville & Nashville Depot which has been very nicely restored, and has an L & N Passenger Train located exactly where you would have boarded it, behind the depot. The Kentucky Railroad Museum is just up the road in New Haven, Ky. Take the Western Ky. Parkway from Elizabethtown, Ky. to The New haven exit. They have L & N #152 and much more !
