That could cause a problem with the traffic.

I think the 24oz coffee will be the best choice... it's going to be a long day!

Yikes. This could have been fatal if someone had been driving under that bridge.
|
oops! What concerns me is the two wheel sets sitting above the clearance sign for the max. vehicle height. Hopefully they are secure.

Good point Jake. Obviously the other two on the ground weren't...

CSX How Tommorrow Moves "OFF THE TRACKS" A saying that I have held onto ever since becoming a railfan. Not that I am hypocritical with my name, I enjoy them because of the heritage of their rolling stock and the railroads that preceded them. Their track work and maintenance however, is obviously a completely different story.

Look off to the right and its another covered hopper. What an amazing derailment.
|
What's amazing to me is the bridge itself looks undamaged.

It looks like either R.J. Corman or Hulcher, which ever got the call, will have to work very carefully on this mess. If you were in charge of this job, which of these cars gets moved first and how ?
|
It looks like at least one steel coil escaped from the car (directly below the 25 MPH speed limit sign.) I see several wheels on the ground: two to the far left in front of the guy with the safety jacket, talking on the cell phone. One under the bridge by the steel coil roll, and another by the guy in a gray sweater by the telephone, center-right and of course the two still on the bridge. I also see what looks to be a sheared-off coupler by the left edge of the coil car. I imagine who ever gets the clean up call (typically RJ Corman with CSX) will have to bring in high-capacity cranes. You're not getting that covered hopper down with just side-winders.

Need a good roll cage for that thump

Looks like you may have to call a dentist for some bridge work.

Sunny today with an isolated chance of wheelsets...
Those ballast deck concrete bridges are troopers, even the ballasted wooden ones. I can't remember how many times the WSOR bridge over arch street trapped a too high truck and it carried trains for decades with the MILW too.
