This is actually a 45-ton GE. This type has only two traction motors, and normally features side rods to transfer power to the other two axles. Some, like this one accomplish the same thing with an inboard chain drive. The classic 44-ton model is overall larger, with taller hoods, and has four traction motors. Bachmann makes an excellent model of a 45-tonner in HO featuring the side-rod option.
