Thirty years ago the preservation of this locomotive, never mind any restoration, was being described by many as "impossible", due to terminal damage to the rear set of driving wheels. It was only the original dedication of a few people, centred around the then 'Barry Steam Locomotive Action Group', who refused to listen to those comments that secured the future of this locomotive from the cutters touch - and it would have been cut up, as no one else was interested in it as a complete locomotive. It's been a long haul...

How nice to see for the first time 6023 in steam. I am really looking forward to seeing her live since i was the banksman for Sparrows Crane Hire that lifted her onto the rails at Bristol Temple Meads.What a fantastic job every one has done.
