You are probably correct. This unit was former D&H 4022, and most of the available photos of it on the D&H show it in passenger service. Therefore, it probably was equipped at some point to provide steam heat. Also, I should note that the unit never carried NYS&W reporting marks. It was traded in to General Electric in the late 80s still wearing FJ&G reporting marks as partial payment for the NYS&W B40-8 fleet.
