Short lived. The failure was caused by no back-hauls. In other words, too many trailers returned empty.
NS on the other hand, bought North American Van Lines & hired the Traffic Department.
The difference? A railroad trying to do trucking, verses a Transportation System developed by using the knowledge acquired by experienced people that had been doing it for years.

In the background I see some railcars..I heard that was once a repair facility...when did they go under or at least move from hat location....when I started hanging around there all that was there was an old rough blacktop lot filled with stacks of rail ties...this would have been late spring early summer of 89.
