Cloth caps no less! And I thought they were exclusive to us Yorkshire 'Tykes'. Hard hats are such a poor substitute for such fine headgear. No self-respecting loco fitter would wear one!

Brian, thank you for an excellent photograph. Not only did I enjoy the full view, magnifying the image unearthed more details. First, I like the rear scaffolding, or would you say rostrum? I saw a locomotive just recently here in the States with tender detached and was most concerned about workers falling. This device would answer that concern. However, I imagine the more masculine workers at the facility I am referring to would scoff at the added "work" of using it. The crane initially looked somewhat limited in usefulness until I could ascertain just how it was supported and that it was hinged. Magnification also reveled a fifth worker underneath the cab and that the time was probably about 2:50 to 3:12.
