The Budd coach in the foreground is a former Santa Fe car, a type used on the El Capitan, Golden Gates, San Diegans and such, and one of many bought to upgrade commuter services on the PC and EL, by the State of New Jersey DOT. New York's MTA also got many such cars from the Santa Fe for ex-NYC Harlem and Hudson commuter lines. That E7, by the way, was one of the last three to run on the PC.

Ah, the splendor of luxury rail travel... PC style! A railroad one most likely could look fondly on only years past!

It is worth noting that they needed two E8s and an E7 on a train that could have gotten along fine with just a single E7/8. I hope it was a power balancing move, but I'll bet at least two of the six 567A or 567Bs in these units were down.

I'm SURPRISED no has commented on the man with the his family on the left who seems to be looking down in a reflex type camera, like a Rollei, taking photos of the car knockers working with the coupler and air hoses.

The family on the platform was probably doing what I was doing, waiting on a steam excursion to pass through.

I agree with all of you. Yes, evocative scene...past years... I think similar ( and several others ) scenes are belonging to the past. Besides, those two children remind me when I also was a child and I goes with my fhater to a Roma Termini station or other and I was always fascinated to watch the several shunting along the rails. I'm nostalgic of these times. I think it was another railroad in USA, Italy and in several and several other countryes.
