You always do amazing work, Keith. You inspire me!

Beautiful photo, Keith. Excellent sense of solitude and superb colors and shadows. Regarding the judges thoughts, I often wonder just how often thoughts are read into a photo that are not necessarily originally those of the photographer. I think I'd like to see a photo with the lead unit for a sense of direction, power and purpose, though this frame works well with the exhaust and captured trailing consist. Reminds me a bit of O'Winston Link's 1955 Street Scene. Congrats.

Keith, I've long admired this shot from you. Just a suburb composition and planning on your part.

It's funny, I get a lot of questions about this image or people wonder why I shot it the way I did. Here's some of my thoughts behind it.
As for the photo, I knew what I wanted when I saw it, I even waited there for
about an hour in the cold to get the shot.
I didn't take a picture of the lead unit because if you look at the image the
streetlight is on the right hand side behind the building. If I would have taken
a shot of the lead unit it would have had a pretty dark nose and it would have
lost the vibrance of the third unit that was facing backwards. I also wanted to
show just a touch of the load, the Mountain sub is known for coal and I wanted
to show that, even if it was just part of the first car, thats all thats needed
to tell the story. the placement of the round crossing sign was thought out as
well. I also wanted to show just enough motion to show that the train was
moving.

You can't go wrong with this. PCA!

Born and raised here at Piedmont..since this wonderful shot was taken, the building on the left has been torn down. Just think, over sixty years ago this could have been the tender of an EM-1 and a 70 ton hopper on the track! The building on the right with the illuminated windows was once the Coffman-Fisher company, were my mom bought my new Endicot Johnson shoes for the school year and cloth to make my sister's dresses for same! Again, thanks for the memories and the well thought out shot!

Now That's A Night Shot!

There's something very Edward Hopper-ish about this photo. Very nice!!

Incredible, Keith. PC vote from me for a wonderful scene with powerful lighting.

Wow... You left Dennis Livesey speechless. Congrats on the PC, and once again, on an exceptional shot.

Thanks everyone,
Brandon, you had me at hello, lol thanks man.
Ed, I try to shoot Piedmont at least once a year, I love that town. Thanks for the history lesson!!
Jeffery, I've had a few people tell me that it reminds them of Edward Hopper, I've also had a lot of people say it reminds them of some of the work by Gregory Crewdson both are a huge complement.
Mitch, I have that effect on people =-)
I have a lot of images to upload but I'm not sure what once will work here, some of my work is a little dark, as in evil.
