This SD45 is TRULY a "Cat with 9 lives" having led a most interesting life. Built as SCL 2011 it went on to become SBD 2011 then 8911. CSX continued to operate the unit as # 8911. After leaving CSX, National Railway Equipment (NRE) rebuilt it to SD40-2 specs, retaining the SD45 car body. Union Pacific then acquired the unit from NRE, giving it # 4738 which was later changed to 2788. Becoming excess to UP, the unit went on to leasing company CEFX as #2788. Currently ( Dec 2014) this veteran still carries its UP paint scheme and # 2788 with reporting marks of leasing company RESIDCO (OFOX) and is working as the CSX yard switcher in Worcester, MA. A BIG "Thank you" to Josh Moldover for much of this data.
