That fancy woodwork would delight an architectural salvage firm. Too bad the efforts have been for naught. (One question: why was the Lincoln Train's "attempt" to stop unsuccessful?)

According to the Free Press Advocate, (Local Newspaper) May 5, 1865 - Lincoln funeral train tries to stop at the Wilmington depot, but because of the 50-foot grade east of the depot, with the brakes locked the train was unable to stop. The train went by at about 20 miles per hour according to the citizens who were present at the passing of the train.
