The Depot sits at a strange angle to the track. Was there a diamond with another railroad here at some time in the past. There appears to be some old ballast visible at the left lower edge of this beautiful photo.

Bill you are correct there was a diamond here, it was a north-south line part of the Rock Island, and ran between the Twin Cities and St. Louis and was the route of the Zephyr Rocket which ran between the two cities. The line was abandoned after the Rock Island went bankrupt so that is why the depot looks so odd today in relation to the track
