Was there a significance for the orange safety scheme? A one off?

These three SD60s, 8300-8302, were in fact EMD demonstrators, and were never owned by the BN. After their demo period, they went into the EMD lease fleet and were eventually among a group of EMD leasers acquired by CSX, in a trade that included the GP60 demos as well. The first SD60s BN "acquired" for service were the Oakway fleet, which were later followed by BN's own SD60Ms. This paint scheme variant did appear on BN's GP50s.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the GP50's Frisco ordered just before merger into the BN were also painted with the "tiger" front and BN paint. I would much rather have seen them in Frisco orange and white first (I did see delivery day SD38-2's and GP40-2's way back in time!)

The Frisco GP50s came in Frisco colors then were painted into normal BN Cascade Green. One was painted into the Whiteface w pinstripe scheme in the 90s. In 1985 BN's GP50s came delivered in the Tiger Stripe scheme then were repainted into the Whiteface scheme starting in 1989.
