I highly doubt that this unit was rebuilt. It looks like it's a little swaybacked from the heat and I would imagine the frame is fatigued beyond repair due to the intense heat.

I cannot see this unit going back into service without it costing more to repair than buy a new one.I am not sure about the term 'swaybacked' but if it means the frame is bent, very visable in the centre, I agree. Scrap metal methinks.

The damage on this locomotive is huge, but it is still in one piece. EMD is the Best!

Not just some of it was burnt, but the entire length! Wonder how that could have happened? The only time I've seen a complete fire engulfing an engine was when it was next to a liquid propane derailment.
