David you have know idea how excited I am to see this picture. My father was an engineer on the South Buffalo RR right up until he died in 1959. I, too, spent many a night on those engines with my father. This photo is going to take an honored place as my desk top. Dad was on the steam engines and he was the first driver of the new diesel engines working out of the Ford plant in Blasdell . engines were, I believe, Alco 1000's. at the time. This one ,I think, is am Alco 1200.
