A very rare shot (and a greatly timed one also!). By this date all of the Westbound loaded taconite and coke trains heading down the 3% grade were run in Distributed power mode with SP AC's, usually in a 2X2X1 set-up. There must have been a shortage of the new GE's in Pueblo this day! Going down the steep grade without helpers would have made this a retainer train so with the retainers set, you had to throttle up to get the train through Pando, which was a flat spot on the descent down to Minturn.
